Gillian:

“Noticing its lighting up in some places more than others”

“Is there going to be another side? So that both people can interact and they’ll intertwine? So romantic. Ughughhghhh I want to die.”

(Just went through a breakup)

Max (viewed in complete darkness):

“So cool”

“It reminds me of veins and arteries”

Technical

Very similar setup as the last test, just now with a clearer user interface.

In the code, instead of the pressure adjusting the number of lights lit up, it adjusts the brightness.

I used optical fibers to create a more interesting light output, and used a nail file to roughen the surface slightly so the light was output along the length of the fibers. I put the electronics inside a shoebox, and thread the sensor and the fibers out through a hole in the top. I taped the fibers down in an interesting network pattern. I used medical wrap to tie the ends of the fibers together and fasten it to the neopixel strip perpendicularly. I think it would be worth checking out if someone has designed a clip or something for this purpose to be 3D printed, or I could try to design one myself.
