Create a physical iteration of my p5 clocks:

Also mildly inspired by/reminiscent of this video of a water lily?
A flower with 12 petals, each unfurling over the course of an hour, offering a gentle and organic way to sense the passage of time.
At the 12th hour, all petals fold back to their budded state, resetting the cycle.
Rather than a rigid minute hand, time is conveyed through the gradual bloom of the current petal—an intuitive, fluid representation that prioritizes presence over precision.
This piece reinterprets the traditional 12-hour clock, maintaining its familiar circular form while softening its function. Instead of imposing the weight of each passing second, it serves as a living sculpture—one that invites the viewer to experience time as something to be felt rather than measured.
The petals will first be prototyped out of recycled materials like cardboard, then eventually 3D modeled and printed. Maybe covered in crochet or knit? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Thinking about whether it should be a tabletop object or a wall hanging.
A further iteration of this clock could have two layers of petals, so it would be a 24 hour clock that still follows the familiar radial pattern of the 12 hour clock. Could also include LEDs.
The exact final form may depend on what I am able to create with my limited mechanical engineering knowledge. It could also end up being 12 independently blooming flowers.
each hour has the corresponding number of petals ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
This would also be a cute reference to **Linnaeus's flower clock** if each flower was an illustration of the corresponding flower**…** hmmmmmm I like this… if I went this route, it would likely be a p5 sketch.
